Information Architecture

The Modernist design axiom, “Form follows function,” is one of our guiding principles at Raised Eyebrow. No matter how beautiful a web site might look, it isn’t worth much if your visitors can’t find what they’re looking for.

All of our design and development processes begin with information architecture consulting, the results of which will inform the interface design and functional decisions about your website.

We have a wealth of experience in structuring content for information-rich web sites and we use that expertise to ensure that your site’s content structure forms a solid foundation for your website. Through a process that includes user profiles, task scenarios and content inventories, we will develop a content site map, wireframes, and in some cases controlled vocabularies to be used as tools to help you make decisions about how your content will be structured. Throughout our process we keep in mind the needs of your site users, the organizational goals your web site is supporting, and the resources you have in-house to maintain the website.

Key deliverables:

  • content site map;
  • wireframes;
  • content gathering list (to aid you in developing and/or revising your web site content); and
  • controlled vocabularies (used for “tagging” or organizing collections of content).
